This chapter marks a major turning point in the Culling Game as Yuji Itadori and Hiromi Higuruma achieve a crucial breakthrough. After their grueling fight and newfound understanding, they successfully add a new rule allowing players to transfer points — a change that prevents participants like Yuji and Higuruma from losing their cursed techniques or dying due to inactivity within the 19-day limit.
However, despite this progress, Higuruma declines Yuji’s request to join his group. Burdened by guilt over past cases where his decisions may have harmed innocent people, he reveals his intention to surrender himself once the Culling Game ends. Yuji appreciates Higuruma’s help but is disheartened by his resolve to walk his path alone.
Meanwhile, Megumi Fushiguro confronts Reggie Star and his faction in a tense standoff. Reggie attempts to persuade Megumi to side with them, insisting that opposing Kenjaku is pointless. He unveils disturbing insights into the Culling Game’s true purpose: that Kenjaku intends not only to merge humanity with Tengen but to drag out the violence to refine and awaken stronger sorcerers while weeding out the weak.
Reggie ends with a chilling warning — once this selective slaughter is complete, Kenjaku plans to unleash a devastating “bomb,” the nature of which remains unknown.
